Irish 2000 Guineas 2013 Betting Tips and Latest Betting Odds

The final declarations are in for the 2013 Irish 2000 Guineas and 10 horses will go to post for the Irish Classic on Saturday.

The current favourite is Aiden O’Brian’s Magician (9/4 with William Hill) who won the Dee Stakes at Chester on his reappearance earlier this month. O’Brian is again multi-handed for the race he has dominated in recent years having trained the winner in four of the last five renewals.

As well as the current favourite the Ballydole team are represented by Gale Forece Ten (10/1 with Sportingbet), George Vancouver (14/1 with Bet Victor) and likely pace maker Flying The Flag (28/1 with Racebets).

Second favourite is the Richard Hannon colt Van Der Neer who chased home Dawn Approach in the English 2000 Guineas to finish third. He ran on really strongly at Newmarket and could go close on the stiffer Curragh track. Jockey Richard Hughes already has an English classic win under his belt this season and can steer the 4/1 (Ladbrokes) shot to victory.

The most interesting runner in the Irish 2000 Guineas field is the Johnny Murtagh trained Fort Knox (6/1 with Sportingbet). Murtagh will ride the horse himself and is not without a squeak after a dominant performance in listed company last time out.

Dante Stakes runner up Trading Leather (9/1 with Coral) is the main hope of trainer Jim Bolger while Havana Gold (8/1 Sportingbet) is Richard Hannon’s other hand in the race.

Regards a betting tip for the Irish 2000 Guineas, it is tough to argue with Aiden O’Brian’s record in the race and Magician looks a worthy favourite after his Dee Stakes win. Ryan Moore drove Magician out to the line at Chester for a convincing victory and quickened away rapidly over the final furlong. That change of pace suggests the 1 mile trip will suit and we advise snapping up the 9/4 (William Hill) before the usual Aiden O’Brian hype sees the price shorten.
