Horse racing betting tips for the 5.45pm Irish Oaks at The Curragh on Saturday.

The Irish Oaks takes place on Saturday at The Curragh. A race run over 1m4f, previous renewals have been claimed by some superb fillies such as Ouija Board and Blue Bunting.

Aiden O’Brien has targeted the race with a strong team. The Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Marvellous (5/1 Coral), who was sent off favourite for the Epsom Oaks, lines-up here aiming to make-up for her poor efforts at Epsom. After that performance, the trip is still a concern and, despite being a progeny of Galileo, she could well struggle once again.

Palace (20/1 Betfred) finished just one place behind the aforementioned runner at Epsom, so she shares similar comments. On jockey bookings she looks to be the third string and realistic chances must be slim. Her best efforts have come over 1m and it could be that she will run as a pacemaker.

The Ballydoyle pick looks to be Bracelet (13/2 Coral), a filly who looked suited by the 1m4f when winning the Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot. That contest looked to be a weak renewal and this looks far tougher. She enters the fray with a patchy record and, although she has shown flashes of brilliance, her lack of consistency and truly top class form should find her out here.

Tarfasha (5/2 bet365) finished second in the Oaks on her latest start and is the current favourite for this contest. Dermot Weld’s filly put in a fine effort last time when stepping up in trip, clearly relishing the longer distance. Given that she was slightly bumped at the final furlong mark her credentials for this race are obvious to see and it is no surprise to see her head the market.

VOLUME (11/2 bet365) finished just a nose behind Tarfasha at Epsom however I believe that she is capable of overturning that form. Luca Cumani's was all over the place in the closing stages at Epsom, and it appeared that she changed legs which lost her momentum at a crucial stage. Nonetheless, it was still a mighty performance and she should benefit from the racecourse experience. The way she travelled throughout most of the race was encouraging as she settled well in the field and looks a solid option here at the prices.

Another noteworthy entrant is Vote Often (14/1 SkyBet) who was disappointing in the Irish 1,000 Guineas and is duly stepped up in trip. She by Beat Hollow, who produced the above average Sea Moon and she should relish this increase in distance.
