Liverpool v Manchester City Betting Tips and Predictions

This weekend's 'Super Sunday' lives up to its billing as we are treated to a monumental clash at the top of the Premier League as Liverpool host Manchester City.

Table-topping Liverpool welcome Manchester City to Anfield for the 13:30 kick off, with the winner likely to take a huge step towards lifting the league crown. Live on Sky Sports and even in 3D, here are some free football betting tips for you.

With nine straight wins under their belt, Liverpool have peaked at just the right time this season. On the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster, Anfield is going to be absolutely thumping on Sunday. Manager Brendon Rodgers has already vowed to 'unleash the crowd' and a win for The Reds would see them open up a seven point gap over their Manchester rivals.

Similarly to Liverpool, City boast some excellent form themselves. Since their home defeat to Chelsea they have gone on a seven game unbeaten run in the league and also lifted the Capital One Cup. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of this recent run has been some significantly improved defensive displays, with only two goals conceded in this period. The much maligned Martin Demichellis was practically butchered by the press for weeks before putting in a fine display against Hull following Vincent Kompany's red card. Although the clanger-prone Argentinian is about as quick Ray Winstone after ten pints, his reading of the game is excellent and his partnership with Vincent Kompany equally as good. The fate of the match lies with the performance of these two players, if they can keep Liverpool's SAS quiet, City can win the match.

Browsing the early prices, bookies have Liverpool as slight favourites at 6/4. Regardless of the opposition, this is a really good price. With the exception of the early season defeat to Southampton, Liverpool are unbeaten at home with only one draw sandwiched between a lot of wins and goals. Also well priced is the draw at 27/10, this result would feel like a win for the visitors as it would put the destiny of the league crown back in their own hands. For this reason, a best priced 19/10 away win for City could be risky given Liverpool's notoriously fast starts. On average The Reds score first at home 87.5% of the time and have the highest amount of first half goals in the league this season, with this in mind back a Liverpool win at 6/4 with William Hill and Liverpool HT/FT at 29/10 with Coral.

With the two highest scoring teams going head to head, it's fair to say that we should expect some goals. This creates a potentially prosperous scenario for Betfred's DD/HH offer. With so many world class players on show, odds are likely to lengthen, leaving an excellent opportunity for value. However, picking such a player can be tricky and there is always the chance of a party pooper spoiling the fun. Nonetheless, at 4/1 and with 29 league goals to his name this season, back Luis Suarez to score first with Betfred.

Finally, for a little bit of a punt. Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has emerged as quite the fox in the box on set pieces this year. With six league goals to his name this season, he even scored twice against Arsenal a couple of months ago. At 16/1 with Coral to score anytime,  this is twice what most other bookies are offering and certainly worth a fiver.
