2.05 Goodwood

First up is a 15 runner handicap which is filled with improving types but the one that catches the eye is ASTRONEREUS (6/1 Coral). He showed his best form on his latest start beating a good field at Newmarket, and there is sure to be more improvement to come. Arable also looks to be an improving type that may go close.

2.35 Goodwood

Next up is the Group 2 Richmond Stakes over 6f for 2yo's and IVAWOOD (4/7 SkyBet) is a confident selection. Connections have been really bullish about this horse and he is supposed to be the best 2yo in a yard full of the best 2yo's in the country. He claimed the July Stakes in comfortable fashion and this looks to be a far easier task than that.

3.10 Goodwood

The big race of the day is the Goodwood Cup which looks an intriguing contest. Brown Panther returns to defend his crown and will undoubtedly be a popular winner for connections. Estimate is another who is likely to carry a lot of the public’s cash and not only she runs in the colours of the Queen but she arguably has the best form on offer. Nonetheless, my selection will be CAVALRYMAN (5/1 bet365) who looks to be at his best and should be good enough to claim this prize. Godolphin have a cracking record in this race, his win at Newmarket was very high class and he should run a massive race.

3.45 Goodwood

Next up is the Lilly Langtry Stakes over 1m6f for fillies and this looks to be a wide open race with plenty having solid chances. Missunited, Talent and Waila are all good faulty horses and warrant plenty of respect but STELLA BELLISSIMA (7/1 William Hill) looks the likely type to cause an upset. John Gosden has reiterated his position as a master trainer this season and has excelled with horses who are inexperienced and thrown in the deep end. He clearly regards this filly highly and she looks interesting at a fair price.
