Manchester United v Aston Villa Betting Tips and Predictions

The latest act in David Moyes and Manchester United's Annus Horribilis continues this weekend as Aston Villa rock up to Old Trafford in Saturday's early kickoff and we have some free football betting tips.

I'd like to start off with a rhetorical question. Was anyone on this planet and all other planets in both this universe and any other potential universe surprised at the result and manner of Manchester United's capitulation to fierce rivals Manchester City? Not even David Moyes looked surprised and I think Dzecko's first hit the back of the net before he had even sat down.

Manchester United were abysmal. City won 3-0 without getting out of second gear. I never imagined you could say that about any team, let alone a Manchester City team, coming to Old Trafford.

Aston Villa meanwhile fell short of notching up three straight home victories after being convincingly beaten by Stoke City.

The encouraging thing for Paul Lambert and Villa though is that their away form has been their saving grace all season. They have picked up half of their points away from home. Prior to victories over Chelsea and Norwich the Midlands club had picked up six more points away from Villa Park than in front of their own fans.

With this in mind the odds for this match are jaw dropping. Manchester United are favourites at 2/5 with William Hill. A draw comes in at 7/2 though and a Villa win at is at a massive 7/1 with the same provider.

Now just think about the sides that have won at Old Trafford this season. Not only have Liverpool and Manchester City won there but Newcastle, WBA and Everton have all triumphed. Added to this Man Utd have only picked up four more points at home than Villa have picked up away from home.

With this in mind 7/1 for a Villa win is too good to let go.

If you need more convincing though Villa are a counter attacking side that excel away from home. The pace of Weimann and Agbonlahor along with the power of Benteke should put Manchester United's defence and midfield under severe pressure.

I'll repeat 7/1 is too good to ignore. If your feeling more conservative however, Villa to win draw no bet is 9/2 with bet365 and that is also very tempting. Perhaps even more tempting is Villa to win both teams to score at 12/1 with skybet.

As a last thought Benteke is 5/2 to score at bet365. He scored last week and has generally come back into form recently. I reckon he could bully the Man Utd backline.
