Everton come off a midweek trip to Russia looking to get a result against Manchester United at Old Trafford and we have some free football betting tips.
Everton's midweek trip to Russia has clearly been in the bookies mind when setting up the odds for this one. Manchester United find themselves big favourites at 4/6 with Ladbrokes. The draw meanwhile is available at 3/1 with bet365 whilst the Everton win brings up the rear with odds of 4/1 available at bet365 also.
The key to this game is going to be Everton's reaction to their Europa League trip. After they played Wolfsburg in the first Europa League match they then went on to lose at home to Crystal Palace despite the Wolfsburg match being played at Goodison Park. We can fairly guess then that the trip to Russia will have taken a lot out of Everton even considering that Martinez has rested players like Lukaku, McCarthy and Coleman.
What I'm building up to saying is that you can't back Everton to get a result here even at the odds 4/1. However, 8/13 is also far too short a price to make me consider a Manchester United team that has struggled to win football games this season.
There is value to be found here though. Despite, having the reputation as an attacking manager Martinez showed away at Anfield that he is pragmatic manager who is willing to set up defensively to frustrate an opponent. Manchester United have a lack of strength in the middle of the park Everton will likely copy the tactic that served them well at Anfield by playing a strong midfield three of McCarthy, Besic and Barry.
The effect of this will be to keep the match tight. Therefore, I'm backing the half time draw which is available at 11/8 with William Hill. In the second half though I'm expecting to see things open up significantly as the goals start flying in. Given that they are at home and will be fresher than Everton I'm betting that Manchester United will be able to get the upper hand. The half time/ draw Manchester United full time win is available at 4/1 with betvictor.
Aside from those bets I'm also looking at the anytime goalscorer market. With Wayne Rooney picking up that silly red card against West Ham last weekend Juan Mata will take his place and get to play in his favoured attacking midfield position.
Mata is going to be fresh and he has a point to prove. Mata to score anytime is available at 2/1 with Coral.
