Holland will be hoping to continue their impressive World Cup on Sunday but it won’t be easy, check out our free World Cup 2014 betting tips here.

With the Group Stages finished and the Round of 16 about to begin, this summer’s World Cup is really starting to heat up. The clear winners of Group B, Holland face the runners up of Group A, Mexico in a crunch match in Estadio Castelao, Fortaleza on Sunday 29th June. Both these teams impressed in their respective groups with Holland, in particular, in fine form, with their most notable performance being a 5-1 demolition of current World Cup champions Spain in their opening match.

Holland further cemented their intentions for this World Cup with a thrilling 3-2 win over Australia and an impressive 2-0 victory over Chile, to top their group with maximum available points. Arjen Robben and Robin Van Persie have both made blistering starts in this World Cup, both scoring 3 goals each and will be hoping to continue this form as we enter the knockout stages.

Tactically the Dutch have been superb, with Louis Van Gaal successfully altering tactics in order to target the opposition’s weaknesses and limit the opposition’s strengths. The clever range of tactical options instilled within the team, coupled with the superb form of key players means Holland have a real chance of lifting the trophy on the 13th July. Van Gaal will also be keen to end his international managerial career on a high before he leaves to join Manchester United and hold that elusive trophy every manager, player and nation craves.

However, Mexico have also enjoyed an encouraging tournament with comfortable wins over Cameroon and Croatia and a draw against the hosts Brazil which has seen them finish second, only behind on goal difference to the Brazilians. Mexico look a strong team all over the pitch with their captain and legend Rafael Marquez in holding midfield giving that vital experience which is crucial as we enter the latter stages of the tournament.

Another player who has shone in the tournament has been goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, with a particularly sensational performance against Brazil where he made one of the saves of the tournament against Neymar’s header. Javier Hernández and Giovani Dos Santos have also looked dangerous in attack with their blistering pace and movement causing problems in the group stages. If these star players and the rest of the team continue their excellent form and strong team ethic then they will undoubtedly cause problems for the Dutch and their ascent to the top.

This summer’s World Cup has seen plenty of goals, however as we enter the latter stages of the tournament teams are likely to tighten their defences and smooth over any cracks which may have appeared during the Group Stage. Both teams may adopt defensively-minded strategies in order to avoid any early, silly mistakes which could cost them their place in the competition. Under 2.5 goals and Holland to win gives good value at 10/3 with Bet365 considering the world class players in the Dutch team and the importance of the match.

As stated earlier, Robben has had a wonderful World Cup campaign so far. He also recorded the highest speed of a running footballer by reaching 37km per hour after a straight foot race with Sergio Ramos during Holland’s opening match victory against Spain; a certain future pub quiz question… Anyway, Robben tore into the Spanish defence and made experienced defenders Ramos and Gerard Pique look like they had never seen a football in their lives. Van Gaal seems able to get the best out of Robben where other managers have often failed, giving him the freedom to cause havoc in the opposition’s half. Robben to get FIFA Man of the Match is 3/1 with Bet Victor and given his recent form in the tournament you would not like to bet against that.

Another tempting bet to earn that extra bit of cash for the summer is who will be the first goal scorer of the match. There is plenty to choose from both teams, Holland have Van Persie and Robben whereas Mexico have Hernández and Guardado. But the ‘Flying Dutchman’ Van Persie looks to give the best value of odds of 7/2 to score first with Bet 365. Van Persie is a quality striker and although his club form for Manchester United last season was inconsistent, under Van Gaal he is a different player and having scored 46 goals in 86 games for his country he certainly knows how to find the back of the net while playing in orange.
