Cheltenham Festival Neptune Novices’ Hurdle Tips

Nichols Canyon was discussed in the Supreme preview although personally this contest looks as if it would suit better. He isn't one to get involved with in ante-post markets given the uncertainty of his preferred engagement but is one to strongly consider on the day.

Outlander improved for the drop back to 2m4f last time having been outstayed by Martello Tower over 3m previously. He is another of the Willie Mullins battalion looking to swamp Gloucestershire this year and, on the form of that recent Grade 2 win, he would have a solid chance in what looks a wide open contest.

Parlour Games has really come into his own since being stepped up in trip. He coasted though a Grade 2 over C&D in November before recording a win at the highest level in the Challow just after Christmas. He brings form at the top level to the table but didn't find much off the bridle at Newbury and is fairly exposed compared to the majority of these.

It's hard to know exactly what KILCREA VALE (E/W) (14/1 Ladbrokes) beat at Market Rasen in January but he could hardly have done it any easier. The pair that dead heated behind him on his sole Irish point-to-point win have both claimed bumper wins so there is minor merit to that form. He acts on quicker ground which is a likely benefit although he lacks experience which could count against him in a big field here.

Difficult to find one at a bigger price given the multiple entries but Noel Meade may have a dark one in the form of Aengus. He only has a maiden hurdle win to his credit this season but a run behind Alvisio Ville at Christmas reads well given the regard in which that horse is held. The bare 2m trip wouldn't have suited Aengus that day with this likely to be far more suitable if connections pursue a Cheltenham raid.

A really tricky race ante-post with so many holding two or three entries at the Festival. At this stage KILCREA VALE might be the only one worth a little interest in at current prices given how impressive his Market Rasen run was with Nichols Canyon likely to be one to back on the day.
