After this week’s round of European fixtures, it’s back to domestic action throughout the English leagues with a whole host of tantalising fixtures waiting for us. I will be previewing West Brom’s trip to Newcastle, in what I expect to be, a very good game in Saturday’s last kick off.
After a very disappointing start to Newcastle’s season, it almost feels like Pardew and his men have turned things around. With a win at home to Chelsea, a great result away to Tottenham and a satisfactory home win against Norwich, seeing the Toon Army sitting 8th in the league. The string of French players Alan Pardew brought in last year didn’t quite have the electrifying impact we did all expect, but it seems now they are slowly adapting to life in the Premier League. Newcastle’s standout player must have to be Loic Remy, who they acquired during the summer. Remy has contributed to plenty of Newcastle’s success this year with Cisse not really achieving much at all on the pitch. Other players like Moussa Sissoko, Cabaye and the silky Hatem Ben Arfa have also helped Remy achieve the goal tally and stature at the club. I can see Loic adding to his tally with another goal or two and would have a bet on him to be the first goal scorer in this game.
West Brom, like Newcastle, had a very slow start to the Premier League campaign but have picked up precious points recently with a win away to Man Utd and draws to high flyers Arsenal and Chelsea. After their breath-taking campaign last year what saw many people surprised, they haven’t reached the heights and that could be to their lack of firepower now loanee Romelu Lukaku has left the club. Inclusions like Sessengon, Amalfitano and the rise of wonder kid Berahino have now helped the Baggies reach a respectable 11th at this stage of the season. I can see West Brom troubling Newcastle at St James Park. My final result prediction would have to be 2-1 to West Brom. I can also see Shane Long scoring anytime if you would like to have a flutter. Lets hope we can get these predictions in!
