Premier League Outright Winner Betting Tips

City league.jpg

The start of the Premier League season is almost here and the key question as ever is who will be crowned champions? The candidates are more numerous than ever and we have some free Premier League betting tips.

For much of its life the Premier League has been a two or at most three horse race where it was fairly easy to narrow it down to the winner. This year though the Premier League is the most open it has been in years.

Conceivably, anyone of Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester United, Livepool and Chelsea could be lifting the title come May.

The Premier League odds on a Manchester City triumph are 9/4 with bet365. The odds of a Chelsea title victory are 2/1 with Ladbrokes. The odds of a Manchester United comeback title win are 5/1 with Coral. Whilst Arsenal and Liverpool are available respectively at 13/2 and 11/1 with Bet Victor.

Premier League Outright Betting Tips

Liverpool

Now I include Liverpool in the title running because of how close they came last year. With a bit more tactical maturity from Brendan Rodgers Liverpool would have likely broken their Premier League duck. As it is though they failed and blew the best chance to win the league they are going to get for a while.

The departure Luis Saurez and the added burden of Champions League football will hit Liverpool hard. I can't see Liverpool dropping out of the top 4 but signings like Lallana and Emre Can will need time to settle in. Even at 11/1 I couldn't back Liverpool for the title.

Manchester City

The second team I would rule out backing is Manchester City. At odds of 9/4 I think they are priced too short.

City were only just the best domestic team last season but their big rivals have improved invested both wisely and heavily. City meanwhile have restricted their transfer activity to Bacary Sagna who isn't an upgrade on Zabaleta, a backup keeper (Willy Caballero) and a defensive midfielder in Fernando.

Currently, Manchester City haven't fixed their biggest weakness which is finding a competent central defensive partner for Vincent Kompany. Martin Demischelis is a liability, Boyata and Nastasic have never really convinced and Karim Rekik is very raw.

Add this the fact that Mourinho seems to have the tactical beating of Pelligrini and I don't feel confident enough to back City for the title.

Arsenal

Arsenal are a similar story. They surprised everyone by leading the Premier League for so long last season but I don't see them having the strength in depth to be worth a bet this year.

What really turns me off backing the Gunners is that they always seem to pick up injuries at inconvenient moments. I just don't feel confident in Ramsey, Ozil, Sanchez, Wilshere and Oxlaide-Chamberlain etc being consistently fit enough for Arsenal to win the league. Although the signings of Debuchy and Sanchez should mean they do launch a serious title challenge I don't see Wenger bringing an inaugural Premier League trophy to the Emirates this season.

Chelsea

This brings leaves us with Chelsea and Manchester United. Chelsea are slight title favourites with the bookies and I'm in agreement.

Mourinho was vocal last season that the lack of a top class striker meant they couldn't win the title. The signing of Diego Costa has changed all this though. Costa's goals were crucial to Atletico Madrid's La Liga triumph last season. With Fabregas and Hazard operating behind him Chelsea should create stacks of chances for their new striker whilst still being defensively solid.

Chelsea at 2/1 should be one of the bets of the season.

Manchester United

Whilst I think that Chelsea are the likely winners as gamblers we need to play the odds. At 5/1 Manchester United are more than worth a punt. Like Liverpool last season Man Utd will be able to concentrate solely on the league giving them a huge advantage in terms of preparation.

Unlike, Liverpool who came up just short Manchester United have players and a manager that have been there done that and got the t-shirt. They have won the league before and won't be fazed by a title run in.

Furthermore, they have strengthened with signings of Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera and crucially the 5-3-2 system, they have played in friendlies, will allow Rooney, Mata and Van Persie to play in their best positions in the same side. Given the experience they have and the advantage of not playing in Europe Manchester United at 5/1 is too good to ignore.
