Premier League Top Goalscorer Betting Tips

The summer break is over and football fans’ weekends get back to normal as the start of the new season is upon us. Whilst we are all wrestling with our ante-post conundrums, we have a look at a few potential Premier League Golden Boot winners for the 2015/16 season. All bookies are offering ¼ 4 places, so there’s even more reason to explore the market.

Harry Kane (Spurs) – 14/1 Paddy Power

The top of the market is crowded with the usual familiar (and prolific) faces and following his breakthrough season, Harry Kane joins them. Injury problems potentially blight the campaigns of both Diego Costa and Sergio Aguero, so it’s hard to have faith in either of them. The North London had a blistering campaign last season and looks set to continue his upward curve. He looks fitter, stronger and as menacing as ever. Anybody who saw his goal against the MLS All Stars last Thursday will have seen the quality of his finish from distance and for those who bring up the age old question – Can he do it on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke? – He probably prefers those conditions than the 80 degree heat of Colorado. Kane missed a few chances, but his display proved he is sharp and will have plenty of opportunities throughout the season.

Christian Benteke (Liverpool) – 16/1 Paddy Power

Potentially difficult to know how many games he will get for his new side, but the Belgian is unplayable when he is on song. A little praise from the manager and a run of games will do wonders for the former Aston Villa man. With Daniel Sturridge injury prone, he may get opportunities early doors and if he can show his worth in the side, he will hard to budge.

He scored a cracker in pre-season and is effective both in the air and with the ball on the deck. He showed how highly rated he is at Aston Villa and the price tag suggests that Brendan Rodgers means business with this transfer. Benteke should get plenty of chances to terrorise opposition defences and should be a big asset to Liverpool.

Ricky Lambert (West Brom) – 66/1 Paddy Power

Not yet priced up by all of the bookies following his move, but it’s always good to pick an outsider. At the price, with 4 places to be paid, it may worth a few quid on Lambert. The former Bristol Rovers & Southampton man didn’t get many opportunities at Liverpool, but he will almost certainly get game time at West Brom. He is the complete Pulis player, he offers height and power and is over 6ft! Berahino’s future is still in doubt, but perhaps the little and large combination can work for the Baggies. He isn’t getting any younger, but I still think he is a terrific finisher and an instinctive striker, who will particularly profit against lesser opposition. Hopefully niggly injuries will stay away and he will get the chance to prove his credentials once more in the Premier League.

He has scored goals wherever he has been and at 66/1, he is definitely worth a couple of quid from me.
