Jessica Korda.jpg

A full week before the men, the ladies have their first opportunity to scoop a major in this week’s Kraft Nabisco Championship, also nice to see that Sky Sports will be showing all 4 days live starting Thursday 04th April.

This event has seen ten different winners in the last ten years and is therefore an interesting event to bet on as it throws up some unexpected winners, no need to stick to the tried and tested in this event!

All prices are below are courtesy of BetVictor, and with good reason they are offering a great Masters Promo (below) making it the perfect time to join them for Golf Betting –

That is great deal for that event, Woods and Mcilroy are the strong favorites along with Mickelson.

The Event

The Dinah Shore Tournament Course at the Mission Hill Country Club provides the picturesque and challenging Par 72 course, measuring 6,700 yards it is one of the longer tracks played on the LPGA tour each season.  Played on the course every year, this is very much the Ladies version of the Masters; the course suits players who can hit a long drive and find the greens in regulation.  Almost without exception the Top 3 or 4 players here each year rank well in Driving Distance, GIR and Par 5 scoring (IK Kim and Morgan Pressell have bucked that trend in recent years, but otherwise the rule holds!!)

Some very good players have consistent record’s here but have not quite broken through at the event Stanford, Kerr, Pettersen and Se Ri-Pak all have impressive records, but I believe the course will in general suit the bombers again, I have plumped for players who should suit the course and provide good value.

Main picks

Stacy Lewis– 11/2 Win –Click here to bet

The 2011 winner of this event and it was a watershed moment for Lewis, previous to this no-one doubted her talent, but she was prone to throwing the teddy out of the pram in spectacular fashion (and had one the best red angry faces you are likely to see).  Now she is World No 1, 2 wins and 4 straight top 10’s in the last 4 events and an excellent fit to the course, Ranks 1st in birdies this season, 5th in GIR and is plenty long enough ranking 21st in driving distance this season.

Beatriz Recari – 33/1 EW –Click here to bet

Kia Classic champion just 2 weeks ago and has secured 3 other top 10’s already this season, now ranked 26th in the Rolex world rankings and that is likely to improve on current form.  Not much to go on regarding course form with a MC in 2011 and a 26th place finish last year, I’m not concerned – she is ranked 9th in birdies, 5th in putting average and has enough length, ranking 55th in driving distance.

Jessica Korda – 50/1 EW –Click here to bet

Have been waiting for this event to punt on Korda, excellent form this season with 3 top 5 finishes already, less impressive last time out at Kia Classic finishing 44th.  Ranked 14th in driving distance, 31st in GIR and an impressive 2nd (only behind Lewis) in birdies made, ranked just 51st in putting average but must be making enough to rank so highly in birdies made.  Only slight concern is her course form here which is a MC last year and 67th in 2010, but as a young, fast improving player this should count for little, my favourite bet of the week.

Carlotta Ciganda – 100/1 EW –Click here to bet

How is this for a rookie season on the Ladies European Tour (LET) last season – ISPS Handa Order of Merit winner, Rolex Rookie of the Year and Players Player of the Year, not bad eh, combine this with an impressive amateur career (British Amateur Champion in 2007) we are looking at player with real pedigree.  She has amassed 2 top 10’s on the LET this season and found her feet on the LPGA tour last time out with a 21st place finish in the Kia Classic.  She finds plenty of greens and plays the Par 5’s well, looks a generous price to me.

Sleeper Pick

Michelle Wie- 150/1 EW –Click here to bet

Not sure we expected to see Michelle Wie in the Sleeper Pick category as she broke on the scene as a youngster and indeed teeing it up with the Men on a couple of occasions, yet here she is.  This definitely falls into the category of a longshot, she has terrible form missing cuts left, right and centre BUT the course seems to suit her big hitting game and she is ranked 44th in birdies suggesting the game is still there but is inconsistent.  She has a 6th here in 2011 and a 3rd all the way back in 2005, 150/1 is probably about right but she still has the big hitter’s chance on this layout.
