Queen Elizabeth II Stakes Betting Tips 19th Oct 2013

The crème de la crème are set to feature for the finale of the flat season at Ascot this Saturday, and here are some free horse racing betting tips to help you along your way.

Dawn Approach (9/4 favourite with Boylesports) heads 12 declarations for Saturday's Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on QIPCO Champions Day. The Jim Bolger trained colt has not been seen since a disappointing trip to France for the Jacques le Marois when it later transpired he was a sick horse.

It has since been reported that Dawn Approach had recovered from his setback of a bad scope, and in the middle of the week trainer Jim Bolger stated that the colt was very well and that they were very happy with him. Reported to be in tip top shape, with the assistance from his regular pacemaker Leitir Mor, Bolger’s only concern is about the ground, as is the same with many in the race.

Top Notch Tonto (12/1 with Paddy Power) has been supplemented at a cost of £70,000 to compete in what remains a top notch field of milers. The Brian Ellison 3 year old is looking for a hatrick after winning his last two races. A horse on the upgrade, Top Notch Tonto could feature as the ground is in his favour.

Joseph O’Brien has chosen to ride Kingsbarns (20/1 with William Hill) and he could be a worthy each-way betting tip for Ascot on Saturday. Disappointing in his last run, when finishing last in the Irish Champion Stakes, the Galileo colt will be looking to return to last season’s form. Been the O’Briens choice for the race, I can’t help but think that they believe the horse is showing all the right signs at home.

Doubts over Soft Falling Rain's (9/2 with Paddy Power) ability to handle the soft ground after the rainfall we've had this week, has been expressed by the trainer. Although the four year old hasn’t run on soft ground before, South African born trainer Mike de Kock has a gut feeling that the horse wouldn't want it too soft.

Gordon Lord Byron (12/1 with Winner) performs well on softer going and was a very good runner up to Moonlight Cloud in the Prix de la Foret a fortnight ago. The Irish trained five year old has been excelling over six furlongs and will make the step up in trip and could feature if he stays the extra so he makes up one of our racing tips for Saturday.

The Hughes and Hannon double act decided that the going was too soft for Sky Lantern, and therefore Olympic Glory (9/2 with William Hill) stands alone for the stables challenge.

Elusive Kate (14/1 with William Hill) and Gregorian (40/1 with William Hill) go for trainer John Gosden. The William Buick ridden Elusive Kate a tad disappointing in her last race when finishing fourth behind Sky Lantern in Newmarket at the end of September, but did show her perseverance when beating Sky Lantern in the Falmouth at Newmarket in July.
