Royal Ascot Day 5 Tips

2.30 – Ballydoyle

Very green on her debut, Ballydoyle came home like a train over six furlongs once the penny dropped at the Curragh. The step up in trip will suit well and it's unlikely the Ballydoyle team would have used the name on a filly who isn't going to be well above average.

3.05 – First Flight

Mahsoob has been massively progressive this season with his pounce late style making it hard for the handicapper to get him. He is five pounds worse off with Godolphin's First Flight on their recent York run however for just a 3/4 length beating when he had a fitness edge.

3.40 – Telescope

Telescope struggled a little bit against some smart rivals after thrashing Hillstar in this contest last year. A mile and a half on quick ground suits really well so there will no excuses here under perfect conditions.

4.20 – Brazen Beau

A four time Group winner in his native Australia from just ten career starts, Brazen Beau raids the UK looking to take another big pot home. Six furlongs on good ground have looked ideal while he is far from exposed and can prove too strong for the home team.

5.00 – Intransigent & Dinkum Diamond both E/W

Always a pinprick job so well worth throwing a couple at the wall to see if they stick. A stiff, fast run six furlongs might be just what Intransigent needs after some solid efforts of late. Dinkum Diamond will have the benefit of an excellent claimer like Intransigent which can make all the difference off a reasonable mark.

5.35 – Wicklow Brave

Very hard to get away from a Willie Mullins winning end to the five days. The County Hurdle winner isn't nailed on to stay this far but Ryan Moore should be able to get him settled to conserve energy. If he gets home, he should be far too good for these.
