King’s Palace leads the charge for the home team, unbeaten over fences and having won here in November and December he is sure to run well.  However, he fell here last year when well beaten in the Albert Bartlett and for that reason is worth opposing.

The Young Master is a much improved type having raced in Handicap company all year.  Barry Geraghty takes the ride and should have his chance turning for home with more experience than most of these over fences.

Southfield Theatre was impressive on his latest outing but his main rival on the day didn’t perform and blundered a number of the fences.  It’s hard to judge him on that running but Paul Nicholls is confident that this King’s Theatre gelding can give a good account of himself.

Another improving type is the Tony McCoy ridden, Phillip Hobbs trained, If In Doubt.  This horse will have to improve his jumping if he has aspirations of victory  however, as he was sloppy last time out at Doncaster.

The Irish contingent is unsurprisingly led by a Willie Mullins runner in Don Poli, a winner of the Martin Pipe hurdle last year he is a serious contender but is short enough in the betting.

Noel Meade’s runners are in good form and he brings WOUNDED WARRIOR (EW) (14/1 Betfred) here, a horse who has a sporting chance.  He’s had a mixed season but was very impressive last time out when beating Rule The World convincingly. Should he put his best foot forward he could make the final frame.

Despite Don Poli being favourite, it is often difficult to discern who is the favoured runner of the Gigginstown team and Paul Carberry’s mount, WOUNDED WARRIOR, looks to have solid e/w claims.
