Goodwood Horse Racing Tips (C4/RUK)

2.00 – 888sport Prestige Stakes (Group 3) (Fillies) Cl1 7f CH4

12/12 – Placed in the top three last time out
12/12 – Won over 6 or 7f previously
11/12 – Winning distance 1 ¼ lengths or less
10/12 – Had no more than 2 previous runs
10/12 – Favourites placed
9/12 – Had won just once before
9/12 – Won by either a Feb or March foal
9/12 – Won their last race
9/12 – Returned 5/1 or shorter in the betting
7/12 – Won over 7f previously
6/12 – Favourites
5/12 – Raced at Newmarket last time out
2/12 – Trained by John Gosden
2/12 – Trained by Mick Channon
The average winning SP in the last 10 years is 3/1

VERDICT: Mark Johnston’s Fireglow is feared, but it’s interesting that Mick Channon has won this race twice in the last 3 seasons so his EPSOM ICON (e/w) (Bet here at 11/2 with William Hill) is the call. The horse is improving all the time after two recent wins and despite having a tiny bit to find on these terms could easily come on again with trip and ground fine, plus she’s already handled a tricky track in Epsom so that suggests Goodwood should be fine too.

2.35 – 888sport Stakes (Handicap) Cl2 7f CH4

11/12 – Had 3 or more runs that season
10/12 – Priced 7/1 or shorter in the betting
10/12 – Won 3 or more times before
10/12 – Won over 7f before
10/12 – Placed 5th or better last time out
9/12 – Winning distance of 1 length or less
9/12 – Favourites placed
9/12 – Aged 4 or older
8/12 – Had run at Goodwood before
7/12 – Carried 9-0 or more
4/12 – Previous course and distance winners
4/12 – Winning favourites (2 joint)
2/12 – Won last time out
The average winning SP in the last 10 years is 13/2

VERDICT: A tough race, but Mark Johnston’s ENLACE (e/w) (Bet here at 16/1 with Betfred) loves it here at Goodwood and so the return to a track she’s an unbeaten 3-from-3 at gives her the nod. She won at the Glorious meeting two runs back in gutsy fashion and despite flopping last time is given another chance back at her favoured venue – if the ground dries out that would be a further plus, while the yard won this race 12 months ago too. Of the rest, the Richard Fahey-trained, Farlow, who won well last time out, is another that appeals with the talented Sam Jo Bell riding.

3.10 – 888sport March Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 1m6f CH4

10/10 – Placed in the top 3 last time out
10/10 – Ran in the last 6 weeks
9/10 – Priced 4/1 or shorter in the betting
9/10 – Won over at least 1m4f before
9/10 – Ran at Goodwood before (4 won)
8/10 – Aged 6 or younger
8/10 – Rated between 107-115
8/10 – Won at least 3 times before
7/10 – Carried 9-7 or more in weight
6/10 – Favourites unplaced
6/10 – Winning distance – 1 length or less
5/10 – Ran at Goodwood last time out
4/10 – Irish bred
3/10 – US bred
3/10 – Favourites
3/10 – Won last time out
2/10 – Trained by Amanda Perrett
The average winning SP in the last 10 years is 3/1

VERDICT: Fun Mac played up at the start last week in the Ebor so providing he behaves himself looks a player here. The Amanda Perrett team won this in 2007 and 2008 so her Blue Surf is another to note. However, VIVE MA FILLE (Bet here at 10/3 with Paddy Power) gets a ton of weight from most of these and is actually rated 102 too. So on these terms the Johnston horse will surely take all the beating here providing she handles the track and softer ground – she was only 3 ¾ lengths behind Big Orange last time here in the Goodwood Cup.

3.45 – Betfair Celebration Mile (Group 2) Cl1 1m CH4

11/12 – Winning distance 1 ½ lengths or shorter
11/12 – Had won a Listed or better class race before
10/12 – Aged 5 or younger
10/12 – Had won over a mile before
9/12 – Priced 7/1 or less
8/12 – Finished in the top 4 last time out
8/12 – Had 3 or more runs that season
8/12 – Won 4 or more times before
8/12 – Raced at Goodwood before (3 CD winners)
7/12 – Previous Group winners
7/12 – Raced at either Goodwood (4) or Newbury (3) last time out
4/12 – Trained by Sir Michael Stoute
3/12 – Ridden by Ryan Moore
3/12 – Won by a mare
2/12 – Won their last race
The average winning SP in the last 10 years is 11/2

VERDICT: The bookies have taken a hammering on KODI BEAR (Bet here at 4/5 with Betfred) this week in the ante-post markets and it’s easy to see why. Clive Cox’s improving 3 year-old was a good winner of the Group Three Sovereign Stakes last time and will love the ground. Top French jockey Gerald Mosse comes over for the ride and with the race not having much depth to it then it’s hard to see anything but a win for him.

Newmarket Horse Racing Tips (C4/RUK)

2.50 – Fly easyJet From London Southend Airport Handicap Cl2 1m5f CH4

Only 3 previous runnings
3/3 – Aged 4 years-old
3/3 – Carried 9-1 or more in weight
3/3 – Priced 8/1 or bigger in the betting
0/3 – Favourites
The average winning SP in the last 3 runnings is 11/2

VERDICT: Andrew Balding took this race in 2013 and will be trying to follow-up with Spectator. The horse won’t mind the softer ground and trip, but has not quite been firing of late. Wadi Al Hattawi is respected coming out of the Saeed Bin Suroor yard that have a 20% record with their horses here, but Mick Appleby’s ROYAL SIGNALLER (e/w) (Bet here at 9/1 with Ladbrokes) is the call. This horse has won its last two in decent fashion and providing the ground isn’t too soft looks to have a big chance. A 4lb rise for his last win doesn’t look harsh and jockey Tom Marquand takes off a handy 5lbs too.

3.25 – Stobart Club And Shop Hopeful Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 6f CH4

10/10 – Didn’t win last time out
9/10 – Aged 4 or older
9/10 – Ran within the last 4 weeks
9/10 – Had won over 6f before
8/10 – Priced 7/1 or shorter in the betting
8/10 – Rated 106+
7/10 – Won between 3-6 (inc) times previously
7/10 – Winners from stalls 5-11 (inc)
6/10 – Favourites unplaced
5/10 – Ran at Newmarket before (July)
4/10 – Irish bred
3/10 – US bred
3/10 – Favourites
2/10 – Trained by Dean Ivory
Tropics has won the last 2 runnings
The average winning SP in the last 10 years is 7/1

VERDICT: This race has cut up a bit which is a shame considering there is £22k on offer. However, really on these terms to two to concentrate on are LUCKY KRISTALE and PORTAMENTO. Both are rated –highly (107 & 108), but get weight from most of these. Lucky Kristale sports the first-time visor which is interesting and showed better form last time when second at York in the Summer Stakes. She’s a CD winner here too and but does need to prove herself on ground this soft. With that in mind PORTAMENTO (e/w) (Bet here at 5/1 with William Hill) is the call. This Godolphin horse dotted-up in soft ground at Haydock last season and ran well from a bad draw at Chester last time (4th) – William Buick rides.

Beverley Horse Racing Tips (C4/RUK)

2.20 – totescoop6 Beverley Bullet Sprint Stakes (Listed Race) Cl1 5f CH4

10/11 – Unplaced in their last race
10/11 – Winning distance 1 length or less
10/11 – Had 3 or more runs that season
9/11 – Won over 5f previously
9/11 – Won 3 or more times previously
8/11 – Won a Listed or Group race previously
7/11 – Raced at Beverley before (4 won)
7/11 – Favourites placed
4/11 – Aged 3 years-old
3/11 – Ridden by Tom Eaves
2/11 – Trained by Ian Semple
2/11 – Trained by Bryan Smart
1/11 – Favourites
5 of the last 7 winners came from stalls 1 or 2
The average winning SP in the last 9 years is 7/1

VERDICT: A tough-looking race but the draw can play a big part here t Beverley. 5 of the last 7 winners of this race came from stalls 1 or 2, so despite having a bit to find on these terms Confessional (1) and the 2011 winner, Tangerine Trees (2) has this as big pluses. However, drawn next to them in stall 3 – LINE OF REASON (e/w) (Bet here at 6/1 with Paddy Power) – looks interesting. This horse has been running at the highest level of late so will appreciate the drop back to Listed company, and was also a good third in the race 12 months ago.
