Horse racing betting tips for each race shown on Channel 4 from Newbury and Warwick on Saturday.
Both Newbury and Warwick host exceptionally competitive, high class racing on Saturday with the Channel 4 cameras there to capture the best of it. Plenty of Cheltenham clues will be on offer and the results are likely to substantially affect the ante-post Festival markets.
Channel 4 Horse Racing Betting Tips
MILAN BOUND (4/1 Betfred) had been running poorly, until a very taking effort at Haydock last time out, narrowly failing to close down today’s rival Closing Ceremony. With a huge swing in the weights favouring the selection I struggle to see him not getting his revenge and, off his current mark, I think he will take all the beating in Channel 4’s opening contest.
VIBRATO VALTAT (6/5 William Hill) had been called all sorts of names prior to him winning his first Grade 1 in December. Since then, he showed again at Kempton that he isn’t as un-genuine as many initially thought. With the horses’ confidence no doubt high, I expect him to make it three wins on the bounce. I think Paul Nicholls has worked the oracle with the horse, and I think we will see further improvement.
TAQUIN DE SEUIL (9/2 Ladbrokes) had his excuses for a below par run last time out, most notably there had been a horrible slump in form for trainer Jonjo O’Neill. With his yard back in rude health, the fact he shoulders bottom weight and contests this race under his favourite conditions, he is worth a bet on the hope he recaptures his form of old.
GLEN’S MELODY (NAP) (11/10 Ladbrokes) nearly spoiled the party in the Mares Hurdle at the Festival last March, just getting chased down by the heroic Quevega in the final strides. With arguably better form in defeat this season she looks to further her claims for another crack at the Cheltenham Festival, and I think she will defend her crown comfortably in this race having won well 12 months ago.
I’m always keen to oppose odds-on shots in races where the favourite has question marks surrounding it, and with fitness concerns i’m happy to take on Sire Du Grugy who is sure to come on leaps and bounds for this effort. Instead i’m siding with MR MOLE (10/3 William Hill) who has shown renewed vigour this season and, with match fitness on his side, I think he is represents good value.
CHELTENIAN (E/W) (33/1 Betfred) has been lightly raced since winning the Champion Bumper in 2011 but has shown his class most notably when coming fourth in this race last year. Considering his liking for big field contests and, with connections in fine form this season, he should run a solid race.
