Horse Racing Lucky 15 Tips

2:05 Ascot
This is a disappointing turnout for a Grade 2 Novice Chase that one would consider an ideal preparation for Cheltenham, but it’s becoming par for the course these days. Paul Nicholls certainly won’t mind though, as VIRAK (11/8 bet365) has a record in races with six runners or less that reads – 21311111, and he can extend that sequence by accounting for Ainsi Fideles, despite conceding 7lbs to that rival.

3:15 Ascot
The presence of Rolling Star gives this handicap an interesting shape, with plenty of unexposed, progressive hurdlers lining up off lowly weights. One such contender is MINSTRELS GALLERY (15/2 Coral), who is open to any amount of improvement now stepping back up in trip. He has some smart form to his name after only five starts over timber, and might be underestimated in the market. Unique De Cotte looks a big threat.

3:50 Ascot
This is a fabulous turnout for the Ascot Chase and well worthy of Grade 1 status, with a diverse mix of contenders taking part. The novice Ptit Zig, unbeaten over fences, will be a tough nut to crack – but this is the deepest field he has faced. Ma Filleule is a danger with her sex allowance, while Balder Succes is top-rated on official figures. The vote however goes to BALLYCASEY (NAP) (7/2 Betfred), who has a brilliant record over intermediate distances and will have optimum conditions today. His form between 19-22f reads – 1111F1. He can send out an early warning for Willie Mullins, who will go to the Cheltenham Festival next month with his strongest ever squad.

4:20 Ascot
Sirabad is tempting, but is too much of an unknown quantity on his first run for Paul Nicholls. He might also find this trip a little sharp, having impressed over further at Auteil. All of the others have progressive profiles, but none more so than OTAGO TRAIL (11/10 William Hill), unbeaten over obstacles, who has impressed when winning three of his last four races, with a combined winning margin of 107 lengths. He gets the vote in a race which might prove very informative.
