Saturday’s Horse Racing Tips: Don’t Miss this Saturday Double

Jack Dexter.jpg

Well after the excitement of all those Arc De Triomphe trials last weekend I have to confess we need to lower our sights just a little this weekend with Ayr full of unfathomable handicaps (but we will have a go!), and Newbury running some second class fair disguised cleverly as Group class racing?

For this Saturday's horse racing tips open a new Betfred account and you will get a no deposit free £10 bet added to your account – simply register here.

These two selections for Saturday's racing can be bet on in singles or a 14/1 double that is currently best price with Paddy Power. We have taken these two bets from Saturday's racecards from Ayr and Newbury.

Ayr 3.50pm – Ayr Gold Cup

Starting off in Scotland, we need to try and balance past statistics with realistic form to try and find ourselves the winner of the Ayr Gold Cup, with a mere 27 runners due to charge down the track on soft ground looking to land the £100,000 or so first prize. A quick look at recent runnings will soon tell you that favourites have a poor record, but I am more than hopeful that top weight Jack Dexter can buck that particular trend. He looks well drawn in the 22 stall, is a course and distance winner, loves the cut in the ground he seems sure to come up against, and drops in to handicap company to pot hunt after running perfectly well in group class including a win last time out at Newcastle. On the down side, 8/1 isn’t that generous, and carrying nine stone ten in this ground could be an issue, but on all known form he is certainly the most likely winner with the excellent Graham Lee in the saddle.

Selection: Jack Dexter – 8/1 with Sky Bet

Newbury 1.50pm – Dubai Duty Free Legacy Cup

Switching to Newbury (you only get two races out of me for your money), and the Dubai Duty Free Legacy Cup looks to me to be at the mercy of Godolphin’s Kassiano with Silvestre De Sousa in the saddle. A class act at his best, the son of Soldier Hollow won three races in Dubai before being beaten less than three lengths by the decent Hunter’s Light and then unsurprisingly trailing home in the Dubai World Cup, the World’s richest race. A well deserved break came next followed by a very easy victory when he returned to action at Newmarket and if that has put him straight, he looks very difficult if not impossible to oppose this afternoon.

Selection: Kassiano – 15/8 with Paddy Power

Best Double Odds: 14/1 with Paddy Power
