The World Cup Qualifiers across Europe come to a conclusion as we take a look at Scotland’s home fixture against Croatia at Hampden Park on Tuesday.

Both these teams already know their fate in Group A as Scotland missed out on qualification following a poor start in the campaign whereas Croatia will have to settle for a play-off place following a two horse race in the group with Belgium. The visitors were beaten 2-1 at home by Belgium on Friday night in a match they needed to win to have any chance of qualifying automatically for Brazil, and will now definitely finish runners up in the group.

Scotland’s last fixture was against Macedonia in Skopje which saw Gordon Strachan’s men deservedly take all three points winning the game 2-1. Watford man Ikechi Anya scored that night and was unlucky not to net more. He was the stand out for Scotland on the left-wing, and Anya could be a good value bet to net any time in this fixture.

The reverse fixture in Zagreb in June saw Scotland grind out an excellent 1-0 victory with a depleted squad against all the odds, and condemned Croatia to their first defeat in the group. Interestingly, the Croatians have nine key squad players who are one booking away from missing the crucial play-off first leg that takes place next month including Luka Modric, Mario Mandzukic, Vedran Corluka and Niko Kranjcar, so it would not be a surprise to see boss Igor Stimic ring the changes for their visit to Glasgow. Those changes could well influence the outcome in this game in my opinion, so I fancy Scotland to get a result here in front of the Tartan Army against a Croatian side who are without a win in their last three competitive games.
