Thailand Open 2013 Tennis Betting Tips and Preview

The Thailand Open gets underway this week and we have got a tournament preview and tennis betting tips for the Bangkok showpiece played from September 23rd to September 29th 2013.

Celebrating its 11th anniversary as a 250 tournament on the ATP Tour, the Thailand Open was proud to present the current World Number Three and Wimbledon Champion, Andy Murray.

However due to Murray pulling out for seemingly the rest of the season, Tomas Berdych is now left as the highest seed, and surely the favourite to capture his maiden tour title of 2013 and if our free tennis tip. Berdych has continually produced consistent results for the last 2-3 years, making him a permanent fixture inside the world top 10, whilst also representing a major threat to the so say ‘top 4’.

This year has proved no different, with Berdych amassing an impressive 44/17 win to loss ratio this season. This suggests Berdych is adapt to putting away any player ranked lower than himself, yet arguably struggles when reaching a quarter or semi final, and thus taking on Djockovic, Nadal, Murray or Federer (although Federer is now 5th in the current world rankings). With the ‘top 4’ being absent, and a fast indoor court that perfectly complements Berdych’s high risk game, only a brave man would bet against the Czech in this one. Looking for any tennis betting value among the outsiders, look no further than Milos Raonic.

Much like Berdych, these fast indoor courts assist Raonic ‘s hard hitting game. Added to the fact that Raonic is very much in the race to make his debut in the end of season finals in London, Raonic is sure to bring his ‘A game.’ The defending champion and world number 9 Richard Gasquet should also not be forgotten especially after coming off a semi-final showing at Flushing Meadows; his best performance yet in a grand slam. World number 20, Mikhail Youzhny and World number 47, Denis Istomin also enter Thailand in good spirits as they too enjoyed going on a deep run at Flushing Meadows earlier this month.

However it remains to be seen whether the trio’s respective runs at Flushing Meadows has taken its toll. As a consequence, I would look at Gasquet, Youzhny and Istomin with extreme caution. Talented players such as the finalist of last year, Giles Simon, the renaissance man Tommy Robredo, Wimbledon quarter finalist Lukasz Kubot and the ever enigmatic Bernard Tomic also represent potential danger to the tournament favourite Berdych, however one must feel the Czechs overall class will tell.
