The 2014 Open Championship may still be months away but bookmakers are already offering odds on the outright betting market and there is a chance to get the early value.
This year’s Open Championship takes place between the dates of 13th and the 20th July and returns to Royal Liverpool in the North West of England.
The last time The Open Championship was held at Royal Liverpool Tiger Woods took the title back in 2006 with a score of 270 to win the Championship by two shots from Chis Di Marco.
Tiger Woods is the current favourite to win the 2014 Open Championship at odds of 6/1 with Winner and if the American has a strong start to the season he could go off a lot shorter in the betting considering his strong display last time he played the Hoylake links course.
Ahead of our golf betting tips for this season’s Open Championship the field is 6/1 bar Tiger, with Phil Mickleson and Adam Scott on offer at 16/1, Rory McIlroy at 18/1 and Henrik Stenson a 20/1 chance.
The 2013 Open Champion Phil Mickleson will once again be there or there about given his tremendous short game and after our successful golf betting tip on ‘lefty’ last season, could he be the man to be on again? A sensational final round of 66 at Muirfield in 2013 gave Mickleson the title and landed bets at odds of 20/1 for our golf tipsters.
Of the outsiders in the latest betting odds for The Open, Luke Donald catches the eye at 35/1, Ian Poulter is a 40/1 shot as is Big Easy Ernie Els, the 2012 Champion.
Looking even further down the betting odds, Zach Johnson is 66/1, Jim Furyk 100/1 Miguel Angel Jimenez is a whopping 125/1. There would be no more popular winner than the Spaniard but could he really pick up a major title around the links of Hoylake?
