Free horse racing betting tips for Cheltenham thsi weekend: Another profitable weekend last week with 8/1 winner Conduct one of the two horses mentioned so while basking in the warm glow of profitability, the pressure mounts to keep that up from now on – the joys of being a racing journalist!
This week all eyes should be on Cheltenham where the Paddy Power meeting sits in third place for National Hunt fans behind the March Cheltenham Festival and Aintree – and yes, it really is that good! Unsurprisingly the racing is stupidly competitive with the first race seeing five last time out winners form seven runners -with the other two finishing runner up! I have no intention of even trying to find the winner (though they say Paul Nicholls thinks a lot of French import Art Mauresque) and will head off to the 1.15pm for the NAP of the meeting. I was lucky enough to spend Tuesday morning in the company of trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies and he makes no secret of how highly he regards African Gold, who makes his chasing debut in the 1.15pm. A quality hurdler who won four on the bounce before finishing second at Cheltenham and fifth at Aintree, he schools well and should only need to jump round to win here, though there are plenty of serious rivals on paper who will hopefully give us a better price.
As for the rest of the weekend, how about a little Twiston-Davies double thanks to Big Casino who looks set to hump top weight in the 1.00pm on Sunday over two miles and five furlongs. I tipped him when he won first time out at 33/1 having been told by trainer Keiran Burke, but he has since switched stables and won easily enough on his hurdling debut at Carlisle over a similar trip. For reasons unknown, Nigel seems to think he is quite well handicapped off a rating of 125 (I cant say I can see that, but what do I know?), and that is good enough for me though with 24 runners declared, an each way bet to smaller stakes may be the more sensible option though I have toad that young Ryan Hatch is excellent value for the eight pounds he can take off of the seven year old’s back.
