Today’s accumulator betting tips for Day 5 of Glorious Goodwood.
As the Glorious meeting comes to its conclusion for another year at Goodwood, we end with prestigious races likes the Nassau Stakes and the Stewards Cup.
Plenty of tricky races on offer today, including this one, but Luca Cumani is as adept as anyone at slowly improving a late maturing sort and this thrice raced cot – SECOND STEP (7/1 Coral) will hopefully prove to be a prime example. Put away for the winter after a maiden run at Yarmouth he returned at Newbury to take a 10 furlong maiden and ran at the same track last time off a rating of 85 when running on strongly to win by a couple of lengths. Although he has risen 7lbs in the weights for his last effort, I’m hoping that he has plenty more improvement left in him.
Obvious yes but MUTHMIR (5/1 William Hill) still looks to be the likeliest winner here with a mere 6lb penalty unlikely to make him break sweat if his last win at York was anything to go by. If that run hasn’t take too much out of him he is hard to oppose from a decent looking draw in the stall two and, if the ground remains quick enough, he looks a confident selection.
It is never safe to discount anything from the Hannon yard here and after three sprint wins since being dropped in trip, I am hoping the three-year-old WAR SPIRIT (5/1 SkyBet) can make it four here. Held up early, he is value for better than all of his winning margins which makes me hopeful that he is still ahead of the handicapper.
