Looks like I may be the only tipster on the planet picking CAMERON HIGHLAND (28/1 SkyBet) however, I do have valid reasons for opting for this five-year-old. Rated 105 after efforts in Listed company he badly needed his return to action at Newmarket where he may well have found the 1m4f a bit too far, but he reverts to a more suitable 10f here. He will be partnered by Louis Steward a jockey who is more than capable and good value for his 5lb claim, and the horse has winning form on different types of ground so is versatile enough to deal with whatever the conditions.

An un-raced juvenile may be a strange pick but word in the Hannon camp is that ACASTER MALBIS (4/1 bet365) could prove to be one of their better juveniles by the end of the season. A son of Arcano, he has been seen motoring on the gallops and a big run is expected – hopefully they have it right!

5.20 Goodwood

With a huge field handicap ending Day 1 it is well worth looking for the value and DAYLIGHT (11/1 Coral) looks a solid pick. This horse has won both his races so far this season at Brighton and Lingfield before being put away with this race in mind – hence the selection. He stays six furlongs so a fast run five should hold no fears for the four-year-old, though he is likely to be taken off his feet early and will need the obligatory luck in running.
