2/7 – Won by the Andrew Balding stable
The average winning SP in the last 7 renewals is 9/2

VERDICT: Roger Varian’s DOUBLE-UP (Bet here at 11/4 with William Hill) has been in flying form this season and returns to the scene of his last win after a close second at Goodwood last time.

1.30 – Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Stayers (Handicap) Cl2 2m More 4

11/11 – Returned 8/1 or shorter in the betting
11/11 – Favourites placed in the top 4
10/11 – Rated between 86-94

2/11 – Trained by Ian Williams
1/11 – Won their last race
The average winning SP in the last 9 runnings is 9/2

VERDICT: Trainer Ian Williams has a good record in this so his TEAK (e/w) (Bet here at 8/1 with 888Sport) is the call here – Fifth last time out at Goodwood the drop back in trip is not a problem and should be in the shake-up.

2.05 – Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Challenge (Handicap) Cl3 1m4f CH4

11/11 – Aged 6 or younger
10/11 – Ran within the last 4 weeks
10/11 – Officially rated between 87-94

3/11 – Won their last race
2/11 – Won by the Paul Cole yard
2/11 – Favourites
The average winning SP in the last 9 runnings is 7/1

VERDICT: Horses aged 4 have won 4 of the last 5 runnings of this so with that in mind Richard Fahey’s INNOCENT TOUCH (Bet here at 6/1 with William Hill) gets the nod. This consistent sort has the services of Pat Smullen and despite not winning hasn’t run a bad race in his last five starts.

2.40 – Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Mile (Handicap) Cl2 1m CH4

11/11 – Ran within the last 4 weeks
11/11 – Priced 8/1 or shorter in the betting

10/11 – Aged 4 or 5 years-old
10/11 – From the top 3 in the betting
8/11 – Won between 2-4 times before
8/11 – Favourites that finished in the top 4
7/11 – Raced at Ascot previously
4/11 – Raced at Goodwood last time out
3/11 – Trained by Andrew Balding
2/11 – Favourites
Don’t Call Me won the race 12 months ago
The average winning SP in the last 9 runnings is 5/1

VERDICT: Earth Drummer hasn’t been out for 198 days but the O’Meara camp are sure to have the horse wound-up for this first run back, but we’ll stick with the only last-time out winner in the field – DIRECTORSHIP (e/w) (Bet here at 15/2 with 888 Sport) . The horse was a tiy winner at Newmarket last time out and a 3lb rise for that doesn’t look to harsh.

3.15 – Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Classic (Handicap) (Bobis Race) Cl3 1m4f – CH4

6 previous runnings
6/6 – Carried 9-2 or more in weight
6/6 – Won over 1m2f or further previously
6/6 – Ran 3 or more times that season
5/6 – Officially rated between 84-90
5/6 – Winning distance of 1 length or less
4/6 – Ran at Ascot last time out
3/6 – Favourites placed
2/6 – Favourites
The average winning SP in the last 6 runnings is 7/1

VERDICT: Plenty of chances here but we like PERESTROIKA (Bet here at 4/1 with Bet365). From the Henry Candy team the horse heads here having won two of her last three starts, including last time out at Windsor and despite being up 8lbs for that victory won by an easy 4 lengths.

3.50 – Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Sprint (Handicap) (Bobis Race) Cl2 6f CH4

11/11 – Raced within the last 4-5 weeks
11/11 – Carried 8-12 or more in weight
10/11 – Won over 6f before
10/11 – Priced 8/1 or shorter in the betting market
10/11 – Won between 2-3 times previously
9/11 – Officially rated between 86-94
9/11 – Carried 9-1 or more in weight
8/11 – From the top three in the betting market
8/11 – Priced 6/1 or shorter in the betting market
8/11 – Placed favourites
5/11 – Raced at Ascot before
4/11 – Won last time out
3/11 – Won by the Roger Charlton yard
3/11 – Favourites
The average winning SP in the last 9 runnings is 5/1

VERDICT: PRIMROSE VALLEY (Bet here at 13/2 with Bet365) is interesting runner after a recent third to last weekend’s Stewards’ Cup winner, Magical Memory. A 2lb rise for that doesn’t look harsh and the faster the better for this Ed Vaughan 3 year-old, who heads here as the highest-rated in the line-up.

HAYDOCK HORSE RACING TIPS

2.20 – Betfred Goals Galore Handicap Cl2 1m2f95y CH4

11/11 – Carried 9-2 or less in weight
9/11 – Won over 1m2f before
9/11 – Won between 1-3 times before
9/11 – Ran within the last 5 weeks
9/11 – Drawn in stall 10 or lower
8/11 – Priced 9/1 or shorter in the betting
8/11 – Aged 3 or 4 years-old
7/11 – From the top 3 in the betting
7/11 – Favourites placed in the top 4
6/11 – Rated between 86-95
4/11 – Drawn in stall 8 (2) or 10 (2)
3/11 – Won their last race
3/11 – Ran at Newmarket last time out
2/11 – Favourites
The average winning SP in the last 9 runnings is 9/1

VERDICT: Rembrandt Van Rijn will be popular after three nice wins, but is up another 6lbs so a lot more is needed here. However the one that ticks a lot of the trends is THE CHARACTER (e/w) (Bet here at 14/1 with Pady Power). Tom Dascombe’s charge gets in here with a lightweight and the return to 1m2 is a plus, while he’s the only previous course and distance winner in the line-up

2.55 – Betfred Rose of Lancaster Stakes (Group 3) Cl1 1m2f95y CH4

12/12 – Officially rated 105 or higher
12/12 – Aged 5 or younger
11/12 – Yet to run at Haydock
10/12 – Placed favourites
10/12 – Officially rated between 105 and 110
10/12 – Aged either 3 or 5 years-old
10/12 – Won a Listed or better class race before
10/12 – Won over 1m2f or further
10/12 – Winning distance – 1 ¼ or more
9/12 – Had 3 or more previous runs that season
9/12 – Won 3 or more times during their career
9/12 – Raced at either Newbury, York or Sandown last time out
8/12 – Finished unplaced last time out
8/12 – Priced 7/1 or shorter in the betting
3/12 – Favourites
2/12 – Won by the Mark Johnston stable
2/12 – Won by Sir Michael Stoute stable
The average winning SP in the last 10 runnings is 8/1

VERDICT: Fire Fighting was finishing fast at Haydock last time out, but on these terms might struggle to get the better of INTILAAQ (Bet here at 1/2 wih 888 Sport). The Roger Varian yard are in fine fettle at the moment and with Paul Hanagan coming here to ride that another plus. The horse has won two of his last three and being the only 3 year-old in the race gets a handy weight-pull from the other four.

NEWMARKET HORSE RACING TIPS

3.35 – German-Thoroughbred.com Sweet Solera Stakes (Group 3) (Fillies) Cl1 7f CH4

11/12 – Winners from the top 3 in the betting market
11/12 – Won just once before
11/12 – Ran within the last 5 weeks
11/12 – Returned 5/1 or shorter in the betting market
11/12 – Placed in the top 3 in their last race
10/12 – Won by a Jan, Feb or March foal
8/12 – Won last time out
8/12 – Placed favourites
8/12 – Won over only 6f previously
7/12 – Had just one previous run
6/12 –  Favourites
6/12 – Ran at Newmarket (July) previously
5/12 – Ran at Newmarket (3) or Sandown (2) last time out
5/12 – Won by Godolphin
3/12 – Won over 7f before
3/12 – Trained by the Hills yard
The average winning SP in the last 10 runnings is 4/1

VERDICT: The Godolphin team love to win this race – they’ve taken the prize 5 times in the last 6 years. So with that in mind their runner – BINT AL REEM (Bet here at 4/1 with Betfred) – is the call. This horse was a nice winner on debut and although more is needed stepping up in grade connections clearly feel she’s capable and holds Group One entries too.
