Sunday’s horse racing best bets from Gowran Park and Plumpton.

Sunday’s racing in the UK is pretty low grade once again but there is at least a Group 3 race in Ireland so that's where we start.

3.55 Gowran Park

Alive Alive Oh has twice finished behind Dermot Weld's smart three-year-old Carla Blanca recently and is far from exposed. She stays this trip well, although genuinely quick ground would be a question mark as she has never raced on anything faster than good.

ODELIZ (3/1 Ladbrokes) is much more adaptable with regards to ground, although she is a little more exposed. Her form is solid, only beaten three lengths combined in her last three starts behind the likes of Thistle Bird and Fintry. She is top rated and probably brings the strongest form to the table.

Regardez is an interesting raider for Ralph Beckett, proven on quick ground and in the form of her life back in Listed races having been thrown in the deep end behind Taghrooda in the Oaks. She turned a Newcastle race into a procession in June before stepping up again behind Tasaday at York. Connections have opted for cheekpieces here which is slightly disconcerting although she is given plenty of respect.

It's a tight knit little contest on paper with Regardez and Alive Alive Oh likely to go well but the vote goes to Odeliz who deserves a win having taken on slightly stronger company this season.

4.00 Plumpton

Castlemorris King has had a busy season already, kicking off with a win in a similar contest to this at Fontwell in May. A solid third last time at Worcester was another excellent effort and, with the smart Sean Bowen excellent value for his 7lb claim, he should go well.

Alfraamsey won this contest last year from a 3lb lower mark, coming here in similarly moderate form this time around. He was on a going day on that occasion, knuckling down tenaciously to repel the field. He arrives fresh for a new yard and is worth watching in the market.

TRIUMPHANT (7/2 Ladbrokes) won last time we saw him over hurdles, at Tramore in April. He was pitched right into the deep end for his new yard in the Group 3 Geoffrey Freer at Newbury. Unsurprisingly he was outclassed on that occasion but a very solid third in a Goodwood handicap last time off a mark of 99 would make him of obvious interest here. A mark of just 115 looks lenient on his flat form and this stable always warrant respect here.

It looks quite a competitive race with top weight Castlemorris King likely to go very well, especially with Sean Bowen's claim. Even with that though, he might struggle to concede 10lbs to Triumphant who is rated more than 30lbs superior on the level.
