After another great event last week where Matt Every prevailed over Keegan Bradley and a mis-firing Adam Scott in the final round, we move onto a tough course and strong field once again down in San Antonio, Texas. Martin Laird prevailed here last year, this year I've steered clear of the head of the market and picked out 3 players I think have a reasonable chance of an each way return.
The AT&T Oaks course at San Antonio is a tough Par 72 layout, plenty of long Par 4’s and 5’s with tight fairways and heavy, deep bunkering, certainly a course where hitting the fairway is a significant advantage. Last year’s winner Laird combined stunning putting and excellent Par 5 scoring to lead the all-around rankings on his way to victory, but previous winner Ben Curtis proved you could win here by utilising accuracy rather than Par 5 scoring in particular. indeed excellent scrambling and putting can prove very useful here with Charlie Wie and Freddie Jacobsen both posting fine finishes her in the past.
For my selections I have plumped for players whom may be ‘about to peak’ so we have some decent each way prices, let’s hope any of the three of them has a good week with the putter as they are all good ball strikers as a rule. Weather looks to be decent over the four days, winds consistently around 10mph, but in Texas you can get some decent afternoon breezes picking up.

Not a likely selection when you consider he has run up a nice 16 on this course before (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWTXoNzuk8c), but Na has excellent driving accuracy, scrambling and putting which should enhance his chances here; along with current form which features 2 top 5’s in his last 4 outings. Admittedly he has a WD and an MC on his two appearances here which is hardly inspiring, but I feel we are getting a fair price for him because of that, if his putter is hot, we have a chance.

Already tipped up by a couple of tipsters so surprised to be still getting the price, but not complaining! Excellent all-round stats this year (apart from scrambling) which has already led to a runner up finish (albeit in a weakened field in Puerto Rico), also finished 2nd in driving accuracy last week which could be of real importance here, now lives in Texas so should nejoy the surroundings both on and off the course. I have also backed him for first round leader should his form fade (80/1) but that market can be unpredictable so tread lightly.
Sean O’Hair – 125/1 EW- Betfred- Open a new Betfred Account on a mobile device – GET £10 FREE!
His 3rd in GIR really stood out in his 10th place finish last week, that solid ball striking should serve him well here, reasonable driving accuracy and much improved scrambling and putting of late all point towards a continued resurgence. Far from a serial winner but certainly worthy of each way consideration at this price. On debut at this course, but a reserved approach might be the answer to this tough layout, where the winning score is likely to be in the low to mid teens under par.
