Waste Management Phoenix Open 2014- Golf Betting Tips & Predictions– Well, thats a mouthful of an tournament name but an event which should be another exciting trip stateside to the PGA tour, our man over there @chrismunney has had back to back 2nd place finishes in the last 2 weeks, has he got the winner this time around?
The PGA Tour makes its way to one of its most popular venues this week, TPC Scottsdale. The Waste Management Phoenix Open is the next stop on the PGA Tour’s West Coast Swing. The original Phoenix Open was first played in 1932 and has been a staple on TOUR ever since. The tournament moved to the Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale in 1987, where its affectionately known as “The Greatest Show on Grass.” The most popular hole will be the Par 3 16th. Where you are assured to be boo’d if you miss the green and you just may bring the house down with an ace. This stop in Arizona is the most attended tournament on TOUR and you can usually expect crowds of over 500,000 on hand throughout the week.
The Stadium Course is one of the easier courses on TOUR. Phil Mickelson tied the tournament scoring record last year with a 256 (-28). Phil is the fan favorite here considering he’s won here 3 times and he attended nearby Arizona State University. Phil did however; withdraw from the Farmers last week with a bad back so that will be something to keep an eye on. The course is a Par 71 measuring just around 7200 yards. There will be a lot of birdie opportunities on the course and we will try to identify those players who can take advantage of the conditions here.
This isn’t the strongest field as there is a big tournament on the European Tour this week, but still some strong names will be in Scottsdale this week:
Webb Simpson to Win – 16/1 Coral- Open a new Coral account by clicking this link bet just £5 and get a free £20 bet!
I feel Simpson should be the favorite this week. Two top 10 finishes in his last 2 starts here plus 3 top 10s in his last 4 starts this season. Webb is #1 in birdie avg, #1 in GIR and also won the Shriners which was a birdie fest as I expect it to be this week.
Harris English to Win 28/1- William Hill- Open a new William Hill account by clicking this link and get a free £25 bet.
English has been very consistent this season making his last 6 cuts this year. He has two top 5 finishes including a win in his last 4 starts. After a week off, I expect him to be ready to go this week and we should see him near the top of the leaderboard on Sunday.
Chris Kirk e/w – 40/1 Betfred- Open a new Betfred account by clicking this link and get a free £25 bet.
Kirk has been having an excellent season so far and already has a win. Kirk is known to be a player who can really rack up a lot of birdies and that’s what we will need this week.
Ryan Moore e/w – 30/1 Winner- Open a new Winner account by clicking this link and get a free £25 bet.
Moore has been off for 3 weeks and that is a bit of a concern. But present form and course form are so good right now, I have to make him a play. 3 top 10s and a win in his last 5 starts, a top 5 finish last year here, #10 in birdie avg, #2 in proximity to the hole, and #3 in GIR. Hope the layoff has him playing even better.
Matt Every e/w – 40/1 Sporting Bet- Open a new Sporting Bet account by clicking this link and get a ‘Risk Free’ £50 bet.
Every has placed in the top 10 both times he’s played here at Scottsdale. Every has also made his last 5 cuts with 2 top 10 finishes in that span. Every is playing very good golf right now. Seeing that he is 10th in birdie average this year, I can see Every being in the mix come Sunday.
