West Ham United invite Manchester City to Upton Park this weekend hoping to slam down the hammer on another opponent. Man City start as 8/11 favourites to win the match, the Hammers can be backed at 4/1, whilst the draw is available at 5/2. All odds quoted are available with Coral.

Last weekend witnessed many shocked faces, as Tottenham were defeated at White Hart Lane 3-0, accompanied with a fine and strong display, especially in a 15-minute window during the second half, by the Hammers. This was West Ham’s first away win of the season and their only second win of the season so far. This result was vital, and this effort will be surely encouraged this weekend, where the hammers will meet another team that has battled in Europe too this season.

Manchester City may be glossed on paper with the players and European football, but they too have struggled this season in the league. They have already racked up two losses against teams they were ‘expected’ to beat e.g Cardiff. However, in front of goal they hold a force, the blue half of Manchester has already scored 17 goals this season, the highest in the league so far. The goals arrived again last weekend for Pellegrini’s men, by successfully beating Everton 3-1 who came into the match at the Etihad with an unbeaten streak. Everton also took an early lead, but City showed character and desire to turn around the match and gain a great result against Martinez and his men. Manchester City will also be eyeing up the league title, they are currently three points behind Arsenal who see the arrival of Norwich on Saturday.

I am predicting a Manchester City win, the strength of the light blue shirts will surely continue league business and goals will be certain in this game. West Ham will have to be on form for another week, but already in this season, Sam Allardyce's side have shown an inability to score goals. Carton Cole has been called back for another three months to support the scoring crisis, but could this signing be enough? The set-up is likely to be the same for big Sam, holding back the opposition, as we have seen from some draws recently by West Ham. But, as Manchester City showed last week, they can still play and carve out a result even if they are pegged back early.
