West Ham v Swansea Betting Tips and Predictions

After being spoilt with a rare schedule of midweek action, normal service is resumed and West Ham United host Swansea City in the opening game of the weekend and we have free football betting tips.

It's fair to say that both teams have been ravaged by injuries and suspensions recently, so their form has hardly been eye catching to say the least. The Hammers have been haemorrhaging goals so far in 2014, the 9-0 aggregate defeat to Manchester City in the league cup was almost as cringeworthy as watching 'The Ashes'. However, Big Sam's men showed a lot of character in bouncing back to win at Cardiff the following game and although they were picked off at home to Newcastle, Wednesday's coupon busting draw at Stamford Bridge will certainly give them confidence when hosting a Swansea side with only one win in their last nine league games. Saturday's encounter will be Andy Carroll's forth consecutive game since his injury layoff, and although he has yet to find the net, Bet365 are offering 6/1 on the big Geordie scoring the first goal and I see this as the perfect opportunity for him to break his duck this term.

As previously mentioned, Wednesday evening's stalemate at Chelsea certainly didn't please our old pal Jose. The outspoken one cruelly branded West Ham's tactics as "19th century football". However, he may just have a point as that was actually the sixth 0-0 draw The Hammers have been involved in this season. It was even the same score line when the two teams played out a stinker at the Liberty Stadium back in October. I hate to back a stalemate, but based on the statistics, perhaps a 0-0 draw at 9/1 with William Hill wouldn't be the worst bet in the world.

Finally, with Andy Carroll likely to lead the line from the start, Carlton Cole will most probably have to settle for a place on the bench. Since being unfairly cast aside in the summer, the towering forward has managed to get his foot back in the door and has even scored a few goals. He'll be the first to admit he's not the best player in the world, but he works hard and is more than capable in front of goal when given the chance. With Carroll unlikely to last the 90mins, Carlton Cole may well be a good shout for the last goal. Snap this up at 6/1 with Bet365 and maybe even as a 1-0 scorecast at 30/1 with the same bookmaker. We'll be rooting for you Carlton.
