Perhaps the more interesting of the two clashes is France v Nigeria. France had their work done in the group after two resounding victories against Switzerland and Honduras. They rested players for their final game with Ecuador and got the 0-0 draw which secured top spot.

Nigeria were expected to slug it out with Bosnia for second spot in their group but they made pretty easy work of getting through after they beat the Bosnians in their second match. They were impressive in their final game against Argentina but did eventually lose 3-2.

Nigeria’s World Cup has been interesting, they are known generally for being defensive, as seen by just one goal in their first two World Cup matches before they exploded in to life against a leaky Argentina defence. France also kept 2 clean sheets in their 3 matches so this could be interesting.

Germany v Algeria 9pm GMT

Second up are Germany who will be hoping to keep their campaign on track against an Algeria side who surprised Russia to take second spot in Group H.

Germany were for the most part ruthless in Group G, demolishing Portugal 4-0 before being held to a 2-2 draw big a lively Ghana and finishing off with a 1-0 win over the USA to take top spot. They have looked very strong going forward but if the Ghana game is anything to go by there are question marks over their defending.

Algeria weren’t expected to get out of their group but were impressive despite losing to Belgium in their opener. They then picked up four points off South Korea and Russia to make it through. They look lively and ambitious going forward but 5 goals conceded in the group say a lot about them defensively.
