Belgium v Algeria 5pm GMT

We start with Belgium who have a lot of attacking talent but an incredible amount of defensive quality to back it up. They romped through their group with the likes of Hazard, Mertens, Lukaku and Mirrallas going forward. They were unbeaten in qualifying and come here after three straight friendly wins. They conceded just 4 goals in qualifying and have won their last two friendlies keeping clean sheets.

Algeria’s World Cup preparation has also solid and are on a four game winning streak of their own. However the caliber of opposition is hardly the highest with wins over Slovenia, Armenia and Romania coming in recent months.

The Belgians may have some stand out names going forward but their main strength is in defence with the likes of Kompany and Vertonghen back there. Algeria qualified for the World Cup four years ago and went out with one point and without scoring a goal. Brazil v Mexico 8pm GMT

Second up is the first second round match between Brazil and Mexico. Brazil are big favorites here at 3/10, little value to be had. They were far from convincing in their opening day victory over Croatia but still had the quality to come through, with a little less pressure on them with the opening win secured they may play with a bit more freedom.

Mexico also opened with a victory, specifically 1-0 over Cameroon and they were the better side. Poor decisions by the officials cost them a bigger win but Brazil will give them a must bigger test.

Brazil should win here but after how they defended v Croatia, I can’t see them keeping a clean sheet. Russia v South Korea 11PM GMT

Finally comes Russia’s clash with South Korea to round up the first round of fixtures.

Russia will want a successful campaign after failing to qualify for the last two tournaments and come here in good form and unbeaten in ten matches. They finished above Portugal to qualify from their group outright in qualifying so should not be underestimated especially with Fabio Capello at the helm.

South Korea probably have their weakest squad in years and finished below Iran in qualifying. They have lost four of their last five matches and were well beaten 4-0 by Ghana in their final friendly before the World Cup. Teams like Tunisia, USA and Mexico have easily beaten the Koreans in recent months and Russia know 3 points is essential here.
