World Hurdle 2016 betting tips and predictions for an ante-post bet ahead of the Thursday feature race at the 2016 Cheltenham Festival.

Thursday's feature looks a little more open than the previous two days and at least has an odds against favourite in the fast improving Thistlecrack, will the favourite win the 2016 World Hurdle?

Colin Tizzard's charge really clicked at Aintree last season and hasn't looked back since, improving with every race this season. He answered the questions about the suitability of an uphill finish in style last time and is very much the one that they all have to beat.

Cole Harden has been well beaten off in both of his starts this season but his entire year is being geared around this one race having been successful in this contest in 2015. Quicker ground is going to suit this lad much better than the deep winter ground that he has had to contend with so far and trainer Warren Greatrex is adamant that a much improved showing is coming.

It's difficult to be too sure on the Willie Mullins plans as things stand but both Annie Power and Vroum Vroum Mag are possibilities at this stage. Annie was a game second in this race in 2014 before her last flight drama in the Mares Hurdle last year. She is entered this week although whether she runs is still up in the air but a prep could have her heading here. If she doesn't then 'Mag' looks set to pick up the mantle. She has looked impressive in Mares company but taking on the boys is going to require considerably more.

Alpha Des Obeaux could end up being the most potent threat to the home team as Mouse Morris's six-year-old has really begun to come of age this season. The cheek pieces have helped him concentrate and given his age and lack of exposure there is probably plenty left in the tank

Of the bigger prices Saphir Du Rheu who was 2nd last year looks overpriced given that he has had a recent operation to improve his breathing and Martello Tower who was a winner at the Festival last year is also interesting. He has been disappointing this season but trainer, Mags Mullins, has been very vocal about the fact that he is capable of much better with those runs under his belt.

I backed Cole Harden for this before Christmas as he is sure to be primed to the second with the better ground likely to see him in a better light. Thistlecrack however answered the final question about him last time and looks hard to oppose for win purposes.
